Yes. Ultrasound has been used for many years and has no known harmful effects when done for medical care. It does not use ionizing radiation.
Colour Doppler adds colour to the ultrasound image to show blood flow — its direction and speed — inside vessels and organs.
Preparation depends on the type of scan. Some abdomen or pelvic scans need fasting or a full bladder. We will tell you what to do when you book.
Your report is usually ready in 1 to 2 hours after the scan. You get a printed copy, and a copy online.
Most scans take about 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the area being examined.
